010Northern Lake Como (Alto Lario) is the perfect area for those who practice sailing sports. “La Breva”, the southerly wind, is the perfect companion for those liking enjoying windsurfing, kite-surfing and sailing. Mornings and evenings, when the lake is calmer, are instead suitable for water-skiing and canoeing. Mountain-hikers will find a vaste range of possibilities: from easy routes at an altitude of 1000m (e.g “Via dei Monti Lariani” or along the valleys of Liro, Livo and Albano creeks) to more challenging treks along the “Alta via del Lario”, a long path at 2000m above sea level, dotted with bivouacs and shelters.

Walking up to the the Darengo del Dosso and San Jorio valleys it is possible to reach three small, crystal-clear lakes: Darengo, Cavrigh and Ledù. In total a network of over 180km of paths and routes is available to the hikers and mountain-bikers. The camping-site provides a rental service kayaks, perfect for small excursions on Lake Como, and mountain-bikes suited for short trips in the Alps. And within a short distance from the camping-site, the sailing centre offers the possibility to take sailing lessons or rent motorboats.

Several villas are open to tourists and well worth a visit: “Villa Carlotta” in Tremezzo, surrounded by a luscious botanical park; “Villa del Balbianello”, now owned by the Italian Environmental Fund (FAI), and its beautiful garden in Lenno; “Villa Melzi”, a masterpiece of Italian Neoclassical style, and “Villa Serbelloni” in Bellagio; “Villa Cipressi” and “Villa Monastero” in Varenna.
